Alphonso Eugene Clark, 1943 to 2026 Alphonso Eugene Clark, 82, of Lompoc, California. A devoted father, brother and proud veteran, passed away on February 2, 2026. He was born on October 31, 1943, in Umatilla, Florida to Mary and Eugene Clark. Alphonso, lovingly known as Al, lived a life defined by service to his country and commitment to his community. Al honorably served in the United States Navy as a naval seaman where his dedication earned him the Vietnam service medal and the National Defense service medal. After leaving his active-duty assignment in the Navy, he then worked for PG&E in Oakland, CA. Then, continuing his commitment to the nation through the naval reserves while building a career in public service at the Santa Barbara County public works department for 30 years. He also worked for Oakland California City Transit and the Lompoc California Unified School District as a bus driver, where he received many acknowledgments and recognitions. In 1966 Alphonso married Blanch Bullard. They were married for 44 years. Outside of work, he enjoyed NASCAR racing. He was a die-hard Raider fan, and loved fishing, camping and gardening. He was a hard-working man with a humorous disposition. Al had the most jovial laugh. It was contagious and made everyone around him feel good. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Eugene Clark. His siblings, Rosa Lee, Ruby Lee, Leroy, Sarah Jane, Charles, Allean, and Lawrence. He was survived by his dog and best friend, Chaos. Also, his daughter, Eugenia and her husband Brian. His son Ray, his wife Debbie and his son Vincent and wife, Donna. His sister Julia and her husband Lawerence and a brother Arthur Lee and his wife Carolyn. In addition, He also leaves behind a legacy through many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousin’s nieces, nephews and dear friends. Alphonso Eugene Clark will be remembered for his quiet strength, his service to his country and the simple joys he shared with those who knew him.
