Elmer E. Wilborn was born in Chicago, Il. On July 6, 1935. His family moved to Dayton Ohio where he was raised , attended Dayton Public schools, and graduated from Roosevelt H. S. in 1953. He lived in Louisville, Ky. for several years before moving to NYC in the 1960’s. His most significant employment was at Beth Israel Hospital where he worked his way up to a supervisory position over the Painting Department. He retired from B. I. before moving to Leesburg, Fl in 1999.
In Dayton, living across the street from a golf course led him to be a Caddy at the age of 8yrs old and began his lifelong love of Golf. While at Beth Israel he bowled on the ir Bowling team, and brought his love for his two favorite sports to Leesburg, as he bowled with the New Jacob Chapel Missionary Baptist Church League and golfed as much as he could. He attended the Father’s House Church and was a consistent Volunteer with the Pantry Mission at New Jacobs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Clermont Fl.
Elmer was a loving Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend with a big heart and willingness to do anything to help family and friends at any time. Elmer’s favorite line to say when most would be ready to cry was, “You have to laugh to keep from crying.”
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Cassandra Denise Pollard (Ohio), sister Mamie L. Thomas (Bronx , NY), Deborah (Bernard) Leigh, Ohio, Jeanette Brooks and Carol Garth, Louisville KY, brother; Charles Banks, Dayton, OH, devoted friend Wilmon Bryant, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
